Hey there, just want to mention something I learned from my Super League, it saved me so much time.
Basically, farming Marks is out until maybe Tier 3. The enemy drops are superior, even in Duos/Challenges.
Essentially, in the last few months, they added so many new drops they outdo most things you buy for Marks.
However, they never explained this to players. Possibly, it's because extra voice acting costs.
A great place to do is the Cat's Eyes Challenge (with Catwoman in the Gotham museum. A lot of good drops).
With those, and maybe buying a level 30 weapon (hidden in a store in the Watchtower Reactor), you're at Tier 2.
Then you do the Tier 2 Solo and Duos, then I got to Tier 2.5 (Central City) in about 1 week after level 30.
No grinding, just playing naturally. I don't think I even did Mods and stuff, as I was swapping gear so fast.
Hey thanks for the tips! Save me a lot of time ;D
But on the topic of "Greedy Developers", I just want to defend the Developers of any game.
"Greedy Publishers" may be more accurate. Here's a breakdown of where your money goes when you buy a game:
About 15% goes to the retailer/shop (Best Buy, Walmart, etc.)
About 15% goes to the console maker (Sony if PS3, etc.)
About 15% is marketing costs (much of it on ads, etc.)
Only 10% or so goes to the Developer.
The rest goes to the Publisher.
Those are rough numbers, easy to remember, rule of thumb, but largely true across the industry.
The point being, the Developer, the guys that actually make the product, get the smallest cut usually.
And Publishers are always willing to drop Developer studios, so it's hard being a Dev. They're victims, too.
Should that continues even with the growth of games developed for PC via kickstarter?
I mean:
- The distribution is by digital means, then there is no retailer/shop. OK, Steam charge, and sometimes very expensive especially in a launch, but maybe in a near future?
- Multiplatform games still suffer from it? For example a game made for iOS is paid but and for Android?
- The best marketing is not done by word of mouth? I think the internet's there to do just that.
In my view, as happened with the music industry with the the arrival of Napster, the digital entertainment industry (games) changed, mainly because is more tuned over the internet and has learned from the past and the kickstarter is the way forward.
