Following a few posts I've made in Cradock's Mind Guide ( champions-online.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=gameguides&thread=129&page=1 essential reading for any Mind AT players!) I thought I'd document my thought and plans since switching from Silver to Gold and converting my high level Mind AT to Gold while trying to retain their original essence and the concept of her character. This will be fairly specific to the Mind in terms of powers and advantages I'm discussing but hopefully the process I'm documenting will be useful to all ATs and serve as a very basic guide for all. THE PLANAngela Gabriel's plan for Lvl 40 as Silver Mind AT Powers: Level 1: Psi Lash Level 1: Ego Blast (R2, Mind Opener, Rude Awakening) Level 6: Flight Level 6: Ego Sprites (R2, R3) Level 8: Aura of Radiant Protection (R2, R3) Level 11: Empathic Healing (R2, R3) Level 14: Telekinetic Shield (R2, R3, Telekinetic Reinforcement) Level 17: Ego Sleep (Plagued By Nightmares, R2) Level 22: Telepathic Reverberation Level 27: Ego Hold (Mass Effect) Level 32: Ego Storm (R2, Malevolent Manifestation) Level 35: Teleport Level 40: Mindful Reinforcement (R2, Revitalizing Boost) Talents: Presence/Endurance Presence/Recovery Endurance/Recovery Presence/Intelligence Endurance/Intelligence Recovery/Intelligence So she went gold at Level 38 so I converted her to a Freeform AT replicated the Mind AT but with the addition of 3 extra powers to add a little extra functionality: Rez (Redemption), Group Heal (Vala's Light) Psionic Healing (better range on the heal, especially when one of the group leaps on ahead without me) I started mapping this out using ChampionBuilder extantforce.com/championBuilder.htmAngela Gabriel Freeform Mind: Level 40 Champion Superstats: Level 6: Super Presence Level 13: Super Endurance Powers: Level 1: Psi Lash Level 1: Ego Blast -- Rank 2, Mind Opener, Rude Awakening Level 6: Ego Sprites -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 6: Flight Level 8: Telekinetic Shield -- Telekinetic Reinforcement, Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 11: Telepathic Reverberation Level 14: Aura Of Radiant Protection -- Runic Glow, Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 17: Empathic Healing -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 20: Ego Sleep -- Plagued By Nightmares, Rank 2 Level 23: Ego Hold -- Mass Effect Level 26: Ego Storm -- Malevolent Manifestation, Rank 2 Level 29: Mindful Reinforcement -- Revitalizing Boost, Rank 2 Level 32: Redemption Level 35: Vala's Light Level 35: Teleport Level 38: Psionic Healing Talents (same as before): Level 1: The Mind Level 6: Prodigy Level 9: Lasting Impression Level 12: Amazing Stamina Level 15: Diplomatic Level 18: Investigator Level 21: Negotiator

THE ACTUAL CONVERSIONSo I kind of converted her according to that plan but I hit on a few snags, basically a few things I hadn't thought of that tripped me up. Converting wipes all talents and powers and the game puts you into the powerhouse where you start from stratch rebuilding them (you do keep your gear!). You really wanna do this carefully as some of the things you've relied upon will have changed. - 1/ INNATE TALENT: I almost forgot about the innate (Level 1) talent (The Mind!) which AT's don't choose!
- 2/ POWER ORDER: Just like with the AT powers are automatically added to the power bar in the order you get them or select them, I missed a power so it was out of order and when I went to battle I was jabbing 5 for sleep but activating Ego Storm instead. You can re-order them but remember to plan/sort that before you get into combat. That also meant that I couldn't add Mindful Reinforcement when I was expecting to, leading to me having to break off and come back next day. Also Picking Flight first and Teleport 2nd meant that to turn flight on I was using "t" and to tap teleport "Alt+t" so I needed to swap them over as well.
- 3/ BUILDS: You get 5 Builds where you can seperately select Role, Costume, Gear, Devices, Powers Bar etc. make sure you plan for that. I set up Build 1 to my taste and accidentally jabbed a key that changed builds - instantly back to firing Ego Storm when I wanted Sleep because I'd only re-ordered the Build 1 power bar. Also you can lock the build with different gear so you need to be careful of that, you don't suddenly want to remove gear during combat!
- 4/ ROLE: Avenger, Brawler, Sentinel - ATs get locked into one of these and Gold characters start on Guardian and earn the roles by gaining perks (www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/The_Sentinel). Went into the training room tried to fire Ego Storm as a starting move "not enough energy" - dammit where's my energy management gone? - Oh I'm in Guardian Role not Sentinel! Once I'd changed it on all builds we're off!
So I'm back in the game and playing the same setup but with rez (must remember to tell team mates I've got that before they respawn!), group heal and a better Range Heal. WHAT COULD I DO NEXT??So having playtested the build I'm happy with quite a lot but I'm starting to have reservations about some powers and how this would play out as an endgame build. So my thought were going to what could I do with freeform that I hadn't thought of before. - 1/ POWERS OUTSIDE YOUR POWER SET: Aside from the additional non-AT powers almost all the powers were Telekinesis/Telepathy based. I hadn't considered swapping any of them out for similar ones outside of that framework.
- 2/ POWERS GOOD FOR SOLO VS ENDGAME/TEAMING: I was very attached to Ego Sleep as it served me well until I got Ego Storm. I still use Ego Sleep to help mop up larger groups (yeah I'm actually purposely pulling aggro just to Ego Strom them) but it's already outgrown the point in spending all those Adv points on it. Ego Hold however is much more useful when teaming. It's worth taking a deep look at what I need for levelling and what would help a team the most.
- 3/ SUPERSTATS: I need to keep PRE superstated for Healing but KempoJuJitsu3 brought up a valid point in that Superstatting INT instead of END would reduce the cooldown time on Ego Storm. Definately an idea I want to consider that I hadn't given a thought to before.
- 4/ BOOSTING OTHER STATS: I'd got boosting INT & REC kind of locked-in in my mindset (lol!) from my AT build. Just like changing Superstats it's worth re-assessing those too. CON would boost HP to reduce your squishyness or DEX should give you better dodge. What do you really want to achieve with your Alt?
TESTING BUILD IDEAS: There's a Public Test Shard (PTS) which you can copy alts across to and use to test out builds without spending your Retcons of Globals. Try stuff out there, see what works before bringing them to live, you'll lose less cash then! Don't Forget! Be aware that your gear requirements may also change from leveling to endgame.

SO WHAT I AM ACTUALLY PLANNING NEXT?
Angela's not quite level 40 yet and she'll get a free retcon then (otherwise it's expensive). That's when I'll copy her to the PTS and start playing with builds.
I'm currently very interested in testing these out in the PTS:
Force Shield (w/ Force Sheath) instead of Telekinetic Shield - resistance to Physical damage is less but it returns energy. Possibly lose the R2 & R3 adv's on the shield as well. Removing all adv's on Ego Sleep and Rude awakening off Ego Blast (might save as much as 7 adv points there) Possibly removing Ego Sleep entirely (noo! - it's an old friend!) Pushing PRE past the softcap at 220-230 to increase healing. Boosting Travel Powers (for Grond hunts) Superstatting INT instead to reduce cooldowns Possibly removing Psionic Healing in favour of Bionic Shielding as it seems have the range and appears to be faster. Vala's Light - is it really worth it? Testing Psychic Vortex and Mind Lock crowd controls out and going for much more of a controller build. Testing a possible "turtle" build using another Role for use as an "oh @#~$" button (Protector Role will use PRE to Increase Threat so must be aware of this!) Testing builds using other Roles to try and boost damage while keeping enough energy management to fire Ego Storm. I want to investigate all the possible buffs as well (e.g. swapping Vala's Light for Medical Nanites)
[EDIT] So after more research, playing the build I've currently got and working on character story I can account for any powers from Telepathic/Telekinesis and Celestial, with Sorcery, Gadget or Force at a push.
Additional build thoughts Can't face dropping Ego Sleep entirely - still use it but will drop Adv's Redemption is a keeper - loving it! Vala's Light vs Psionic Healing w/ Psionic Emanation frankly Psionic wins despite AoE heal only being a chance. Bionic Shielding doesn't sit well with the build and I want to keep Mindful Reinforcement as shield really. Medical Nanites are a possibility but not sure they are worth the loss of Aura of Radiant Protection, Seraphim might still be worth testing in PTS. Likely to replace Psi Lash with Radiance Maintain Heal (Empathic) will remain Angela's 'Go To' heal but will also try Celestial Condit out in PTS (doesn't have Heal Self so not a replacement for Empathic Heal) Might need another form of Energy Unlock to try running in different roles to increase Damage/reduce squishyness.
Powers: Level 1: Radiance -- Convergence Level 1: Ego Blast -- Rank 2, Mind Opener Level 6: Ego Sprites -- Rank 2, Rank 3 Level 6: Teleport Level 8: Aura Of Radiant Protection -- Rank 2, Rank 3, Runic Glow Level 11: Empathic Healing -- Rank 2, Rank 3 Level 14: Force Shield -- Force Sheath Level 17: Ego Sleep Level 20: Telepathic Reverberation Level 23: Ego Hold -- Mass Effect Level 26: Ego Storm -- Rank 2, Malevolent Manifestation Level 29: Mindful Reinforcement -- Rank 2, Revitalizing Boost Level 32: Redemption Level 35: Psionic Healing -- Psionic Emanation, Rank 2 Level 35: Flight -- Rank 2 Level 38: Psychic Vortex or Mind Lock or (possibly) Seraphim or some form of Energy Unlock
I'm left with 2 Adv points to spend on either Force Shield R2 Flight R3 & Teleport R2 Upgrading Lvl 38 Power Choice Ego Sleep Plagued By Nightmares

GETTING ON THE PTSFirstly I'd recommend you read the PTS FAQ here: forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=90673In short you'll need to sign-up here to use it: www.champions-online.com/test-shard-signupThen you can create a new character and level UP within the PTS (too much work!) OR transfer a character here: champions-online.com/test-shard/character-transferNext time the Launcher loads look above the 'Patching' bar and you'll have the option to select Live or Public Test Shard. The Public Test Shard will need to patch (about 4/5 GB which I wasn't prepared for!). There are three MAJOR advantage of the PTS: TRY NEW STUFF BEFORE IT ARRIVES I've started trying 'Resistance' out and it's good! THE C-STORE THERE IS FREE! so you have the opportunity to try out Super-magnifiers, become werewolf, Rainbow Flight etc in a test environment. So C-Store Re specs are free and you could also stack up on Triumphant recoveries for those face-plant moments. BUILD TESTING you can copy characters there so once you have 1 level 40 character you can copy multiple versions of them to the PTS and try many different builds out. You also copy the gear they have so if you had a Secondary Upgrade you wanted 2 of you could probably copy the character twice and mail yourself the item. If your build doesn't work then free re spec it. If you want to try a C-Store costumer or power then you can without actually spending points. TESTINGSo Radiance works well in the build but Redemption needs to fully charge before it works so I'm checking out Rez Serum instead (just need some folks to die for me! ;D ) I've tried Aura of Primal Majesty instead as well but prefer Radiant Protection. Force Shield works fine, to be honest I don't really notice the difference except having a little more energy (no bad thing) Psionic Healing - don't use it often but really appreciate it when I need it, could drop the R2 as it's just for emergencies. Trialed Bionic Shielding as a substitute to Psionic Healing Celestial Conduit - not really suitable for my needs. Don't really need another energy unlock Seraphim - meh! Psychic Vortex or Mind Lock - both aren't really doing anything that Ego Hold doesn't cover for me. Yet to try SS Int version - I'm going to duplicate Angela again before I try that. Breaking concept I'm trying Inertial Dampening Field as it could be a fab team power and really reduce my squishyness. AFTER TRIALING POWERS.I have the following power build and have tested it against two separate Superstat setups Superstats: Level 6: Super Presence Level 13: Super Intelligence OR Endurance Powers: Level 1: Radiance Level 1: Ego Blast -- Rank 2, Mind Opener Level 6: Ego Sprites -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 6: Teleport -- Rank 2 Level 8: Empathic Healing -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 11: Ego Sleep Level 14: Force Shield -- Force Sheath, Rank 2 Level 17: Ego Hold -- Mass Effect Level 20: Telepathic Reverberation Level 23: Ego Storm -- Malevolent Manifestation, Rank 2 Level 26: Mindful Reinforcement -- Revitalizing Boost, Rank 2 Level 29: Aura Of Radiant Protection -- Runic Glow, Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 32: Redemption Level 35: Bionic Shielding Level 35: Flight -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Level 38: Inertial Dampening Field -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Talents: Level 1: The Mind Level 6: Prodigy Level 9: Amazing Stamina Level 12: Lasting Impression Level 15: Investigator Level 18: Negotiator Level 21: Diplomatic So I've got Angela (END) with the following: Int 28 Pre 259 Rec 84 End 259 Energy 143/358 Ego Storm Cooldown Time 15 And Angela (INT) with: Int 224 Pre 259 Rec 84 End 59 Energy 127/158 Ego Storm Cooldown 12 I've taken both solo into Powerhouse 5-man team hard setting and beat it with both versions. The only noticeable playing difference is the reduced Ego Storm cooldown, otherwise both have very close to the same amount of available energy at the start of a fight, the end version can 'store' more energy up but the int version uses far less. I'm pretty much ready to take this into Live with the INT version but if I get the chance to test it's energy management in a hard team-up environment first I'd be happier. I'd hope to boost END to about 150 and REC to 100 with gear in the final version too.

BRINGING FINAL BUILD TO LIVE
So I got a quick team test last night and I'm good to go - any problems I may have with energy management while teaming should be fixable by gearing differently and careful Energy Builder use.
So once I hit the respec button I'll be adding the powers in live carefully so that the ones which are 'set in stone' are in there first and anything I might want to change goes in last to make any possible cash retcon cheaper (see- planning might take time & effort but you can prepare for these kind of things!)
Order I'm adding SS, Talents, Powers & Advantages in:
Super Presence
Talents: The Mind Prodigy Amazing Stamina Lasting Impression Investigator Negotiator Diplomatic
Powers: Radiance Ego Blast -- Rank 2, Mind Opener Ego Sprites -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Teleport Flight -- Rank 2 Aura Of Radiant Protection -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Empathic Healing -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Telepathic Reverberation Ego Hold -- Mass Effect Ego Storm -- Malevolent Manifestation, Rank 2 Mindful Reinforcement -- Revitalizing Boost, Rank 2 Ego Sleep Redemption
Force Shield -- Force Sheath, Rank 2 Inertial Dampening Field -- Rank 3, Rank 2 Bionic Shielding Flight -- Rank 3 Teleport -- Rank 2
Super Intelligence
DESCRIPTIONS Radiance - Energy Builder that can be used to heal (only returns energy if it heals though) - silly slapfight animation but really useful as a 'trickle' heal on a tank.
MIND AT powers (best described in craddock's Mind Guide(see link above)) Ego Sprites, Empathic Healing, Ego Hold, Telepathic Reverberation, Ego Storm, Mindful Reinforcement, Aura Of Radiant Protection Ego Blast - (I've dropped the Rude Awakening Adv as it's much less useful now - see sleep comments) Ego Sleep - (I've dropped all the Adv points here it still gets used in solo when Ego Storm is on Cooldown)
NEW powers Force Shield -- Force Sheath, Rank 2 (swapped to this shield as it's got better Energy Generation) Redemption - (Rezz - really useful power but tell people you have it so they don't just click respawn) Inertial Dampening Field - (after all other damage reducing powers this kicks in for you and your team - reduces damage by a flat rate. Great team power and reduces my squishiness) Bionic Shielding - I did have Psionic Healing in here for oh '@~$% they're out of empathic range' but tapping it wasn't doing enough for me and charging takes too long. I don't like the idea of having 2 bubble-shields but in practice this works out so much better and would be rarely used. (be aware casting this on a team member means it can't be re-applied for about 15 secs - if your team member uses this as self heal you may cause more problems then you intended.)
POWER CUSTOMIZATION Gold members can customise most of their powers, selecting it's colour and emanation point (hand, fist, head etc). The next thing I'll do will be standardise these power colours to a reddish-pink (Angela's choice not mine!) similar to the one the Mind AT defaults to. I'll take a look at changing emanation points for powers outside Telepathy so seem it there's a better fit for Angela's build. All this is cosmetic but helps keep a unified look to the character.
POWER BAR CUSTOMIZATION With more powers to play with than the AT don't forget to organise your Power Bar and think what need to be top tier or bottom tier. I'm currently laying mine out as follows 1 (locked to Energy Builder) Radiance 2 Ego Blast (it's familiar there) 3 Ego Sprites (it's familiar there) 4 Emapthic Heal (again it's familiar there) 5 Mindful Reinforcement (placed next to heal so a tap 5 hold 4 action is quick & easy) 6 Ego Hold (it's familiar there) 7 Ego Storm (it's familiar there) Alt + 1 Ego Sleep (quick enough fors olo work) Alt + 2 Inertial Dampening Field (toggles on/off) Alt + 3 Redemption (not an 'urgent' button and near Heal) Alt + 4 Bionic Shield (not needed much but 'mirrors' Heal button)
PLAYSTYLE So currently I've got team-up and leveling playstyles depending on the need for a healer. Team ups are when I'm pretty much staying out of the way (flight) turning on Inertial Dampening Field and making sure everyone's in my aura's and heal range, spamming Mindful Reinforcement on any at risk team members (inc me!) and healing under that bubble if needed. I'll probably need to occasionally use Energy Builder or do something trigger Telepathic Reverb to ensure I've got enough energy coming in. Leveling may involve teaming or not but there's much more emphasis on killing bad guys than healing. For large mobs (think 5-man SL) I ego blast individuals to draw them bit by bit to me then Storm/Sprites/Blast/Sleep and steadly reduce their numbers.
Smaller mob in groups (think Powehouse 5-man with it's 3 seperate groups) I tend to teleport into the middle, EgoStorm, Mindful Reinforce myself and double tap Sprites then tap blast everyone into submission. Once Storm has worn if there are any survivors off it's sleep/sprites and blast again. Refresh Mindful Reinforcement just about EVERY time it pops and block & heal when you've lost about 1/4 of your health. If in doubt about anything, bubble, block & heal

When you hit 40 check with me for Gear. Hopefully I should have some useful stuff for you in Sho Nuff's bank if the gear in the SG vaults isn't what you need.
I'll be following this thread, definitely a cool insight into the conversion process.

good guide! I started my first freeform yesterday and innate talents and roles definitely threw me for a loop. What makes a power good for solo/leveling vs team/end-game?

What makes a power good for solo/leveling vs team/end-game? Whether or not the power functions consistently in a group and solo. Examples: 1) Aura of Radiant Protection w/ PRE superstated. Solo, it will protect the user. On a team it will protect the user and allies. Good for solo and teaming. 2) Ego Sleep. Solo it will put enemies to sleep (a hold that breaks on any damage) and the sleeping enemies can be attacked with Ego Sprites (the only attack that doesn't wake sleeping enemies) that do damage, give energy to the user (with telepathic reverberation) and give health to the user (with Gree....err Slave Mentality advantage ). On teams other players will often hit sleeping targets immediately which wakes them up. While these targets are no longer held they are debuffed with disorient (and fear w/ advantage) which may be useful to the team (more so if the team has a Darkness user). So it's good for solo and just OK for teaming in this example. 3) Form of the Master on a non-tank build. Solo, every time you dodge you gain stacks of Focus to buff your damage and give you a bit of energy. On a team with a tank holding aggro you don't get attacked. No attacks on you = no dodging = no focus stacks = you do FAR less damage. So it's good for solo in this example and utterly useless when teaming.

Updated SO WHAT I AM ACTUALLY PLANNING NEXT? and GETTING ON THE PTS
[EDIT - must remember to comment on Power Customization - such as syncing all powers to the same/similar colour scheme and changing emanation points]
[2nd EDIT following last nights playtest] Ok I'm still not on the PTS yet but I did a lot of playing with Angela's gear and role last night (I'm still on the freeform build on the first post.) I succesfully managed to get Angela working in Avenger role and to be honest it was a bit of a revalation! So she was geared so she was roughly rocking these stats: PRE 256, END 225, INT 50, REC 96, CON 28 and a HP +5% bonus. Dropping into Avenger meant a boost in HP, a large drop in Equilibrim and increased damage. The first problem was energy management - you really need to think about this a lot more. I found that I simply didn't have the energy to heal when needed unless I had either my energy builder on or Ego Storm. More Rec and Int would help a lot with this and I'm really seeing where Kenpo was coming from recommending SS INT as I barely filled my end bar but still had plenty or energy provided I was careful about keeping it coming in. Best thing DAMAGE! Ego Blast was hitting for 1400 (not quite double as was on Sentinel) on average, two bar health villians were dropping iwth one Ego Storm and 2 Ego Sprites. Master villans weren't the concern they previously were. I also dropped a mob of 12 Dogz in 3 secs.

Updated GETTING ON THE PTS & TESTING
I now need help! I need a final power I'm kinda thinking Inertial Dampening Field but want I really want it others input - not so much from other healer/support players but DPS & Tanks etc. What power could I take that would most benefit you? Not AoPM though.
I've also got 2 Adv point to spend but I'm thinking Flight R3 & Teleport R2
Powers List: Level 1: Radiance -- Convergence Level 1: Ego Blast -- Rank 2, Mind Opener Level 6: Ego Sprites -- Rank 2, Rank 3 Level 6: Teleport Level 8: Aura Of Radiant Protection -- Rank 2, Rank 3, Runic Glow Level 11: Empathic Healing -- Rank 2, Rank 3 Level 14: Force Shield -- Force Sheath, Rank 2 Level 17: Ego Sleep Level 20: Telepathic Reverberation Level 23: Ego Hold -- Mass Effect Level 26: Ego Storm -- Rank 2, Malevolent Manifestation Level 29: Mindful Reinforcement -- Rank 2, Revitalizing Boost Level 32: Redemption OR Rez Serum Level 35: Psionic Healing -- Psionic Emanation Level 35: Flight -- Rank 2 Level 38:

Added BRINGING FINAL BUILD TO LIVE
Respeccing tonight and starting the gear hunt
*from the desk of Angela Gabriel* "Dear Viper-X,
For christmas and birthday I would like: Primary Offense with REC+90 Primary Defence with PRE +90 Primary Utility with INT+90 2x Secondary Offence with PRE+34 Secondary Defence with INT+34 Secondary Defence with END+34 2x Secondary Utility with END+34
And if you're feeling generous then maybe a Secondary Offence with CON+34 or Health on Kill (if they do that) so I don't have to heal so often.
Of course I could just come and spank your skinny ass hard enough till you cough them up for me!
Love Angela Gabriel"

Does Viper X really drop this gear? Is this in MC or SL? and does it have to be on elite?

Does Viper X really drop this gear? Is this in MC or SL? and does it have to be on elite? Not personally sure he does but stat bonuses of +90 for Primaries +34 for Secondaries have been reported on the CO forums for Very Hard Serpent Lantern. I gather Elite has a mild improvement on those. Athough I think one primary (defence?) is actually only +70ish.
